As mentioned in a few other threads recently
here
here
here

this utility allows you to create a website featuring your DVDs - using a DVD Profiler skin of your choice.

Basic instructions are on the download page, and I'd appreciate any feedback you might have.

Don't know if it's just me or what, but I just tried using Companion with a skins and it didn't work, but doing the exact same thing with Rho's skin, it works like a charm.

The skin I first tried is this universalGrid. Can you test it and see if it's just me of if it's a bug in the skin itself?

Great job by the way! Nice little tool!

The link you gave is broken...

I have tested with "Universal Studios-style DVD Grid version 1.1a", which works just fine for me as evidenced by this link. Is that the same skin? There are so many skins with similar names, it's hard to keep track!

If you gave more details, I might be able to fix it.

Looks similar, but it's not exactly the same.

I corrected the link in the post, sorry about that.

In your instructions on your site, maybe you should mention that the generated html is in the folder c:\htmltest, I had to look quite a bit to find it!

LOL... true...

I followed your instructions on the site... put each file where it said. I tried with 2 different skins... Roolkui... and a much simpler one I downloaded just to test called SimplyBlue

With Roolku it just put some code into the top right hand corner block and did nothing else... with SimplyBlue it wouldn't even do that... I click go... and it would wait a few seconds (no text in top right box) and then companion would just shut down.

It's a skin bug (missing = between maxlist and "1") in the line <DP NAME="GENRES" MAXLIST"1">. I already some code to handle that, but I've tweaked it some more. I've uploaded 0.1.1 which now handles that skin just fine.

That's a sign that the skin is doing something weird that I haven't added code to compensate for (like the Universal skin Ross was using). I'll try Roolku's skin tomorrow - since he already had an 'external' skin, I never tested the 'internal' one!

That's extremely odd. Sometimes Windows stops 'painting' programs on the screen and removes them from the taskbar when they don't provide any user feedback for a while (e.g. whilst processing lots of data). Any chance it's simply doing that?

Is 'xulrunner.exe' in the list of processes?

I think I know the problem...

Tried running it again... this time I looked at my memturbo reading... my mem went down into the danger and then companionclosed down... don't think I have enough memory to run it on my collection...

I have...

Pentium 4 - 1.6 GHz

Ram - 256

I have a feeling I have to little ram.

Here a link if anybody wants ti see a functional generated site using DVD Companion that's NOT made by the programmer

http://mydvd.gotdns.com:8080/dvdcompa

Addicted:

It may have something to do with that. Executing DVD Companion on my 967 profiles collection, Xulrunner sat at about 500,000 K of memory used when it was done.
