| Posted: | | | | With peoples' collections always changing, how often do users reprint their reports?
I generally sort by purchase date and only print when new report pages are necessary.
But I noticed that some reports contain dynamic data such as "loaned to", which would require reprinting regularly.
Or do people simply create reports for viewing onscreen? |

| Posted: | | | | Well I have a full page report that I print for each movie I get and I then put this in a binder, that is getting huge actually, I might have to split it.
I also have a very simple report (checkbox and title) that I use for inventory purpose and one I use to print my wishlist (title and release date) when going to shop. Finally I use a 4 movies-per-page report that I "print" to a PDF to share online with friends, but I'm keeping this one a lot less up to date since I also use phpdvdprofiler which is much better than a static PDF file | | | |

| Posted: | | | | I use a 30 per page style report, which currently runs about 21 pages (not all titles are flagged for this listing).
It doesn't make sense though to re-print the whole listing every time I pick up a new DVD or three - especially when printing in color.
So I print the full listing in alpha order and then until I've bought another 30 new titles, I just make a single page version of the last 30 new additions - a 'New Releases" section if you will. So depending on how fast I pick up new dvd's, I only have to print the long listing out every 5-6 weeks or so. | | | MtnMike |

| Posted: | | | | Well it was my idea to have a "one per page" report in a ring binder and just add the new pages as needed. Not that I've got around to doing that yet...
Otherwise I like looking at the "how much they cost/how much you paid and saved" report on screen... |

| Posted: | | | | What i make is to sort in reverse order by collection number... That makes that the last page of the report shows the last movies added to the collection... (so you only need to print again the last page or pages...)
That of course works until you delete a movie from the collection and the next one you insert it's on the middle of the collection... :-) |

| Posted: | | | | I print out an alphabetical report now & then, noticing how many DVDs with volumes or TV seasons are sorted in quite various ways.
I prefer to sort season (and volumes and discs) using numerals rather than spelled-out numbers. Otherwise, Season Five comes before Season Four, then Season One, Season Seven, Season Six, Season Three, and Season Two.
It also helps (because I store all my DVDs in alphabetical order) to make sure every DVD in the collection is in my profiler and that if I give away a DVD, it gets removed from my profiler.
If I made a binder with the collection with each DVD on a page, I'd need more than 1200 pages! That's a lot of ink/toner! | | | .

| Posted: | | | | I sort my movies by genre.. only 1 genre per movie.. this way when I have to print out an updated report I only have to print out the genre part of the movie I just added. I used to have 1 page per movie but the book got waaay to large. Now I have 4 per page broken into genre.
Nice coffee table book. | | | My Collection |

| Posted: | | | | I've got a double-print system - all in an old Franklin Covey classic sided binder for the coffetable. The reports have been a constant sore spot for me because it seems that most of the developement came to a halt when skins came into fashion, and people were printing from skins.
Anyway, I've made a 2-page report for each DVD with just the "static" information. Since the pages I print are half letter, it's the perfect fit for a near-full-size cover image on the front and back of the sheet, plus margin to put on the extra info. Those get filed by alpha (Though I'm considering re-parsing, as I've got a three year old, and sifting though her dvds to find mine is starting to get annoying)
The second is a sort of table of contents, printed Columbia House Sticker style, with a mini-thumbnail of the cover, the movie title, the jukebox slot location, and the running time. I think I get about 35 or 40 on each side of page, and I print double sided, so I only have about three or four physical pages. It's great for a quick selection reference. I usually print a new one every 6-8 new movies, which recently has been only about twice a year, keeping the full sized / double sided "new movies" in the back of the binder, to be re-filed when I print a new index. |

I do a full page, bound report and a many per page (with running time in case I have 1:45 spare and want to see what film I can watch!).
But I never thought of doing a new releases supplement . Good idea! | | | Cheers! Simon | | | Last edited: by SimonG |

Never thought of doing the 1 page ones and binding - sounds good to me ... I have almost finished the new DVD rack (well the first one )
Normally I just print one out every few months, usually just to keep handy or to lend to people so they can pre-choose which film they want to watch when they come 'round for an evening.
I like the idea of a running time report but even though I do have that on my normal printout with so many discs I really wish I could sort by it! | | | "No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible" |

| Posted: | | | | Little late to the party, but yes I do. I have made two pages for each DVD - Cover on the first, with the main info, and the Back cover on the second. Both have the appropriate magins on A5 paper to print onto half letter paper. I had a ream of glossy letter paper cut in half and punched for a Classic sized Franklin Planner binder. Kinkos both cut the paper and did the 7-hole punch for about 8 or 9 bux. Each DVD gets a single page - front and back - in color from my laser printer. I have to manually duplex because the report generator won't do a two-page style, but it's really no big deal for the number I do.
I run a batch of sheets every few DVDs I get, and also a "Columbia House"-like thumbnail index (cover, title, running time, jukebox slot #, rating, aspect) with 40 on a page. The main body is alphabetical, and the indexes are alpha, but sorted into Main, Children, TV Series, and Holiday Shows (I use the ratings to separate my categories - it's crude but useful).
The old leaterette binder I have makes a very nice coffee table book. Since everything is in the jukbox (in the basement with the rest of the rack), we just open the book, punch the slot number into the pronto, and we're ready to go. It's also nice for looking up details (cast/eastereggs) without firing up the computer. | | | Last edited: by DVDmaven |

| Posted: | | | | My collection is stored in three 400-disk mega changers. Disks in Machine one are number 1XXX - Machine two are 2XXX and three are 3XXX. I give the movies the next number when I buy them. I edit the search criteria to get only the 3XXX movies. I sort by collection number and print a new report every 16 movies. I only print the last page. I'm using a 16 per page report. I keep them in a coffee table book for when friends or family come over to watch a movie. About once a month or so I print a full alphabetical list (no images) to put in the back of the book for those that might be looking for a specific movie. |
