Excluding genre from report? (Locked)

Is there a way to exclude a genre from a report?  I would like to print a report that does not contain any titles having the "animation" genre ticked.

If I filter by genre, and check everything but "animation", I still get titles that have multiple genres checked that include "animation".

You need to edit dvd to exclude the genre. You can do this by DVD/EDIT/GENRE/REMOVE.

That is what I was hoping to avoid.  I'll have to change the genres on 89 discs, then lock them from being updated.  Ughh.  A great feature would to have a "not" filter next to the "or" and "and".

Looks like I will have to go to plan "B"... backup the database, delete the discs containing the genre I want to avoid, run the report, and finally restore the database.  Wish me luck.

Hi Joe,

Create a TAG for each of your favorite Genres.
Then assign the tgas to your dvds

Now you the filter "and, or, & NOT",  and this filter can be used for report printing.

again, TAGs have a NOT status.

WetRon,

Thank you so much!!!        That is just what I was looking for, and lets me set my own genres rather than using the rather useless existing genre fields!!

I also found another workaround if you don't want to set tags.

1. Use the genre filter to show the genres that you do not want to include in the report.
2.  Collection -> Flags -> Flag All
3.  Collection -> Clear All Filters
4.  Collection -> Flags -> Invert Flags
5.  Tools -> Reports -> Options -> Flagged Entries Only

JoeTheZombie,

I know this thread is six months old, but I just read it and I had to compliment you on your flag-juggling workaround; very clever indeed, I'd not have thought of that. Just used it on some reports, works great!
