I don't know why so many of you refer to "being on crack", Pan's Labyrinth simply is Alice in Wonderland for adults (still one of the best movies I've ever seen though).

Bit of a letdown was the ending though, thought this was kind of a stylebreak.

I think that came out wrong.
What I mean is, the whole movie is from the point of view of Ofelia. For her, all the phantasy stuff is real, even her getaway through the labyrinth when the walls open for her.
But for this little scene, the point of view changes to the general (or whatever he is), we see Ofelia talking to nothing like a big flashy sign *bang, this is not real*

Agreed.  They didn't have to show us that.  Let the audience decide how real it is themselves.

Watch the very beginning of the film again. Close up of Ofelia lying on the ground, apparently dead (to the living, "above" world) ..... then time begins to reverse.

With the exception of the graphic violence, it had a very Miyazaki feel to it.  It wasn't at all what I was expecting....but I can't wait for it to release on an HD format.
