I was looking at buying pre-viewed DVDs from blockbuster. Are they any different than original DVDs (expect for being pre-viewed ofcourse).

Is there any quality difference etc I should be worried about? They are original manufacture quality DVDs right?

Except for any special packaging these should be identical DVDs to those that you can buy new anywhere else (including, quite frequenty, off the shelves at the same Blockbuster).

The problem with Blockbuster (at least where I am in Canada) is that they put this huge obnoxious sticker over the UPC code and cover up 25% of the back cover.  It is an impossible sticker to remove!
Other rental places are a little more friendly with the packaging of previously viewed material.

Another problem with used Blockbuster dvd's, at least in MY experience is that very often the discs are in very poor condition. I'd swear that some renters played a game or two of air hockey with it before returning it.

I do buy used DVD's sometimes, but not from a rental outlet.  At least with the stores where I've picked up used titles, the stores have no problem with me having a look in the case before buying to 1)make sure the disk appears to be in good condition and 2)that any inserts (that I expected to find) are there as well. I think these used DVD's are those where the purchaser probably watched it once and didn't like it or where they were hard-pressed for cash.

Yes, it's also a little tough when they expect you to return damaged discs within 14 days, or even 30 days.  Sometimes it's a year or more before I get around to watching a disc.
There's one rental chain in British Columbia, Canada that gives lifetime warranties with previously viewed DVDs.  How's that for going above and beyond?

This may depend on where you are based... I believe that in the US they're identical (IIRC from a previous thread). However, in the UK and elsewhere many regular releases are marked 'Not for Rental' and the Rental release only includes the basic film and not the extras.
I would always check the rear cover for any "Rental only" markings or details of extras before committing...

You should also note that for DVD Profiler purposes, even if they are the same content, often the EAN/UPC code is different so you may have to do more entering (and hopefully then submitting) than usual if nobody else has done the deed for the rental version yet. If you look at the Benson's World site they include info on Rental and Retail versions separately; though they may not give enough detail about extras etc, they will show you which barcode is which, which may be of use to you.
