1 make the space smaller or 2 get rid of it. well i took the first option. Now i have a dj box. i can put 1000 dvd's in the box. only my friends series and my godfather series are on the shelf.

The Real Jedi Masters...

I used to do alpha with the kids movies sorted out (so they can easily browse). Then I ran out of room and sorted out the box sets as well. Then I ran out of room again. Now things are just kind of everywhere until I find a better system. Fortunately I can still find everything fairly easily. But I really need a better storage solution as I'm about to run out of space again. And I'm already storing things in 4 different locations throughout the house.
I know that when my collection gets to big to put everything together in the same place, the system i have in place now will help me move them to different rooms.
I have my collection grouped by genre and alphabetically, I also group certain genres together like Animation and Family films (though i have a few animation films that i put into my Adult section like, South Park & Fritz the Cat...etc...) and Comedy & Romance together, Horror & Adult together, Fantasy & Science-Fiction together,...etc...the genres are not mixed together just grouped together.
I have small shelves (about 60-65 DVDs in each) so when i need to move some shelves around, the 2 or 3 shelves that have the sub-group of my collection in them, they are still together. I keep my box sets on top of my shelves in no real order, and TV and movies are mixed into the collection, unless they are to big for the shelves, then they go on top too.
i have added some more shelves, at this time i have 13, each can hold 75 DVD's, 811 at this time with space for 164 more, may have more space than that with most of my box sets on top of the shelves.
