Being a home theatre forum, I would have thought to have seen more threads on the purchasing, construction, and details that go into the making of a true home theatre. I myself, am now  in the process of collecting information to build a theatre in my home and in a forum like this it would be great to get some input from others who have taken on this task. Best projector to buy, best wire to run, Plasma vs Front projection. seating, accessories etc. Pictures are also a great way to get some ideas. How about posting some pictures of your Home Theaters?

The Bluray vs HD is getting old and the only true winner will be what the masses accept. Who knows maybe both format will coincide within the same machine? I say lets wait and see.  Just my 2 cents.

No pictures yet, hopefully I'll have some soon, still in a orange alert disaster area. I have the Optoma h31 projector, panaview greywolf 2 96 inch. screen, sony 5 disc dvd player w/5.1, 5 disc panasonic w/5.1,
2 directv satelite hd receivers, 2 rows of seats, word of advice, DON"T connect the projector til you done, tough to get going again once you get hypnotized with the amazing picture quality, very happy with what we have, working in the back end of the room now,,,,

Sounds like it is going to be a great theater. Don't forget to post some pictures. Where did you build this room? I have 2 options at my disposal. Either build in the basement which is wide open or rip the roof off the garage and build up. The basement brings no added value to the house but above the garage will as an addition to the house. I have been looking at various projectors that mount to the ceiling. My concern is where the other A/V equipment will be in relation to the projector. The type of cable and wire to be run to ensure no loss of video or sound quality. My room if in the basement will be roughly 15 x 22 and if above the garage 20 x 30, either scenario both rooms are large. I'll be keeping my existing equipment for immediate use.

Technics SA-DX930 Audio/Video Receiver
Panasonic DVDF65S 5 Disc Changer, Progressive Scan DVD Player
Panasonic DMR-E50 DVD-RAM/R recorder Progressive Scan
PANASONIC PV-4160 Hi-fi VCR
CERWIN-VEGA VE-15F Front Speakers
Cerwin Vega E-75C Center channel speaker
PIONEER BOOK SHELF Rear SPEAKERS Model SDF2K
Sony’s KP-46WT500 16:9 Hi-Scan® Projection Television

Analog Equipment
Dual 1009 Turntable (love that old vinyl)
YAMAHA KX-1200U Cassette Deck (love them tapes)

I guess too many here would rather watch the Bluray / Hd debates from individuals who at best can only speculate on what format will take off than to show off what they worked hard to build or discuss what went into building their theaters.

Oh well......

I think it might be that not many have purpose built home theatres here wtmac, we just drool over the few that have, and spend all our money instead on the dvds  . I can only speak for the UK, and here it is still very rare to know anyone who has more than a projector and screen in their lounge.

Don't lose heart, we will all enjoy seeing how yours progresses, and would be a good thread to follow if you keep it updated with pictures etc.

cheers

I'd post picture of my "home theater", but it's nothing to call home about, since I watch my movies on my computer!

I do have a nice LCD widescreen monitor and a 5.1 DTS decoder though. ANd you know what? It's more than enough for my needs, and frees up more money for DVD!

Nothing to make pictures of. In my livingroom you'll only find the widescreen Philips tv and the Magnat speakers.
Everything else is in a walk-in-closet next to the livingroom, from where the audio and video logistics and distribution takes places by means of cables.

Looking forward to seeing your theater. Looks like there is another thread where some have posted pictures. I must say the theaters are spectacular. In building mine I am definatley now going for more space so the roof is coming off the garage when I start this project this spring.
