I just purchased DVD Profiler specifically for my HD-DVD collection (I don't own any regular DVDs) and love it! Adding the new audio formats and a few other HD-DVD features would make it dang near perfect!

again, hearsay. Let's hear from an official IVS rep, otherwise it's meaningless.

Actually, IVS has stated that they intend to address HiDef DVDs as soon as the format war is settled.

I'm not really sure why they need to wait, especially since that could be years, if ever.  The fact is that both formats are being sold and will always be out there needing to be catalogued.

I am not stating this as a fact, since I don't know, but I would be surprised if IVS doesn't address this in the next release after v2.5.

Who knows if the format war will ever end.  I read several news articles about a company that actually developed a player that will play both HD formats, but it right now is not ready for the market.  So, I am not waiting for the war to end just a dual player to come out.

That would be the "consumer's solution.  I sure hope it actually materializes.

LG had a dual format player supposedly planned for Fall 2006 release. Then they mysteriously cancelled it, I have no idea as to why. Whether they ran into some technical or production problem or whether they got ummmmmmm shall we say leaned on by one of the two formats prime supporters.
