I would be great if you can add a new tag for search the movies through IMDb site or well the possibility to import from a text file with the URLs of the movies in this site... e.g.

import.txt
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0172495/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0400717/
...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0406816/

The soft is great, thank you!

IF you had read our Contribution Rules, you would have discoverd that that scraping darta from third party data sources is expressly forbidden, this definitely includes IMDb and is done for legal reason. We used to do it until IVS prohibited the use of such data...,so if you wish to do it locally that is your business but for Contributions absolutely NOT.

When you read IMDb, you just have the red alarm bell going, Skip...?

rodfeli,
while I can understand that it would be cool to read about a movie at IMDb and than just add it to DVD Profiler using the tt-Code, it just isn't really practical (besides the possible copyright problems...). Many movies have been released several times, and that isn't even considering Regions... I think adding by Title or the UPC (if DVD already in hand) is better for our purposes.

Hmmm.. Adding by imdb link or ID... I would have to agree with Achim on this one. it sounds like it could be trouble with finding the right release, right region and such. I imagine it could be possible to put in the link or id and have a list of DVDs to choose from (if there is no copyright problem that is)... but not something I would use myself personally.

I would think to do that you would have to record each IMDB ID or link into every profile. doesn't sound practical to me at least.

I think it must 99,9% of all movies, where an IMDb-link would be useful - i.e. there is not THAT many different releases of different movies out there that the IMDb-link wouldn't be useful.

I would love to se an additional field in this program: "Add Hyperlink". On that field - which would not be in the online database but under personalisation just as sort title etc. - we could type in whatever hyperlink we wished, and it would show as a functional link to that particular page we ourselves selected in our programs, INSIDE the program and not only on online collection.

If you check the link in my signature, you'll see that I have included a link to IMDb in my personal webpage. That's something I would like to see in DVDP. I know there is a link to the search page, but it IS missing a link to the page we want to link any particular release to.

Why don't you add your link to the personal notes?
You can enable html for the notes and put any link you want in there...

everyone know there is a link to the IMDb in the program right?   It will automatically jump to the title you are on when you click it.

As far as adding to DVDP while browsing the IMDb I agree with Achim. Besides the different versions (which are more and more) you will get nothing associated with the DVD itself.

No, it won't, at least not always.
If there is only one movie with title this feature works well enough. But as soon as there is more than one possible answer, like with 'Avalon' it gets hairy. A link on the IMDB-ID would solve that problem.

Infact, that's what I currently do, but since I have other uses for personal notes, too, I'd prefer having a separate slot for it in the "Personalise"-window.
