Anybody preparing to migrate to Hi-Def DVD by selling their SD dvd collection? (Locked)

I am feeling a bit paralyzed with the so called "format wars". Until it is near a settlement I will neither buy into a HD format or buy SD dvd's. Until then I will keep current watching movies through a rental service.

Don't get me wrong I don't sit by and miss out on enjoying technology because I am waitng for it to stop evolving. It is that I look at my 500 or so dvds and wonder if I should start selling them while the SD market is still going strong. I would keep 50 or so box sets, concerts and special editions. But if I could average $3 for the rest I could get around $1350.

Today I have 2 720P screens (50" DLP and 120" projected) so I am getting near HD quality. However, to really embrace a 1080P format it is going to mean upgrading. I would at least like to recoup something.

Anybody else feeling the same way?

Please post a link to your collection.

I'm sure I'd find items of interest at $3 a pop!

With upconverting DVD players, I see no reason for selling my SD DVD collection in favor of High-def.

I am currently on the side-lines of the format war (although my new PC does have an HD DVD drive in it).  I will stay there until a clearer picture of the furure emerges.

Not quite ready to sell yet. Mostly likely in the Spring.  I will post a list here when I am ready though.

DVD's work on BD/HD drives, i dont see the problem? If theres a rerelease of a movie in hi def, i might buy the newer version, but i definately aint gonna sell my DVD's just because theres something better available. You dont sell your books just because you can get them in PDF.

Why would you sell DVDs?
With a good scaler the DVDs will look fantastic on your HTDV in comparison to SDTV. Sure for newer Eye-Candy-Movies one could switch to the HD DVD or BRD, but I can't see me buying e.g. Monty Python's Flying Circus new

No

There are hundreds of titles that will never make it to HD.

I've only sold SD dvds of the movies I bought on HD DVD.

I thought I would only upgrade popcorn type movies but you can't imagine how good Casablanca or Adventure of Robin Hood look until you watch them on HD DVD.  The difference is amazing.
