By the way: You are welcome to use my new userbar in your sigs!

Here the two slightly different possibilities:

http://www.tom-gaines.de/images/Userbar1.jpg

http://www.tom-gaines.de/images/Userbar2.jpg

Please use the banner directly from my webspace to make sure, you always have the most current version (Viewer version number) in your sig.
Also link the banner to
http://www.tom-gaines.de
and not directly to the zip-File!

EDIT:
Here in the IVS forums, the sig would be like this:
(a href="http://www.tom-gaines.de"](img src="http://www.tom-gaines.de/images/Userbar1.jpg"/][/a]

Replace "(a" with "[a" and "(img" with "[img"

The "About" window still shows "Cast and Crew Viewer".

Tom,

I tried it today with an export from 2.4 and 2.5 and both seem to give me:

    Run-time error '3421'

    Data type conversion error

It's when processing record 811/919 (so it's getting most of the way through).

I have a screenshot and XML I could send your way if you're interested.  But even zipped, it's about a 1.6MB file.

Finding the cause is always the easiest when using the XML where it happens. If you do not mind, it would help me a lot if you send it to me. 1.6mb zipped is not a problem for me.

I just sent you a file.  Let me know if you don't get it in a reasonable amount of time and I'll see about throwing it up on a website.

Thanks! I have found the cause and it will be fixed in the next version.
But you can work around it in the mean time. For some reason, the LastEdited field for the movie "Rugrats In Paris: The Movie" is empty. An empty string does not make a good date value
You can edit the profile again in Profiler (so that a new LastEdited value gets written) and then export the collection anew. Then the import into the viewer should work.

It seems I've run into this problem before with another program that read my XML file.  I never fixed it then either.  Of course if I had, I wouldn't have found this bug.

Hi Tom

Is there a walkthrough on how to use this little programme, it seems everyone else is very familiar with it, but arriving fresh to this it is a little confusing on how to initially get the relevant data across?

Searched your site amd the download but couldn't find a help file?

My initial import I tried brought my collection across without any image files?

Just keen to maximise it's potential of course

Thanks
Rich

A help would be great, but I am too lazy to write one
You are not alone having problems getting started. Especially if you did not use it from the beginning, where the features were few and were coming slowly from version to version.

One idea would be to set up a wiki, where questions can be put and then answered for others to see in the future. But for one I have never set up a wiki and also my webspace does not support SQL and php.

To the images:
These are not copied. If you have installed Profiler in its standard installation directory, this one will be used as default. Otherwise a folder "\Images\Covers" is created.
Either you copy all your images from Profiler in there, or you set the cover path to the image folder in Profiler (this way you do not have to have all images twice on your hard disc). This is done with Settings->Path Settings->Cover Path.

By the way: The Profiler XML file does not contain any image information. Even if I wanted to copy them automatically, it would not be possible without specifying the Profiler Image path

Understood Tom

Ok, to be fair it is quite simple to get started once you spend a bit of time on it, have now got whole collection in with covers, alias, awards etc.

But I can't get the headshots, each time I 'search for new headshots' i get an error message that it can't retrieve it from your website.

Any help on what I may be doing wrong here?

cheers
RR

Here my tutorial for the start:
- Export your database from the Profiler to an XML
- in Tom's Viewer Click "File>Import>DVD Collection File"
- select the exported XML you made in the Profiler
(now you should see your collection in the Viewer)

next step
- click "File>Update>TV Data (recommended)
- there: select all TV-Data stuff you wanted from the Online-storage

with "View>TV Shows" and "View>Movies" you can switch between the TV-Series-ordered Stuff and your Collection

for connecting stuff from the TV-section (maybe some episodes to a DVD you owned) to your collection:
- click "View>Movies"
- select the DVD you want to connect with data
- click right-mousekey and select "assign episodes"
- in the window you can select the episodes you like and click "add Assignment"
- click "Done" when ready... and viola :D

after clicking again onto that profile you will see now the available episode-list under the DVD-Cover

hope ervyone will enjoy this great program

PS it's just a short tutorial I made.. i hope it  will help
regards, Mad  -

Thanks Mad, episode list is excellent

Any ideas why the headshot upload is not working?

You are doing nothing wrong here. MadAcid (who is hosting the headshots) had problems with the server and had to take them down.
The next version of my viewer will work again with the headshots. MadAcid and I have probably resolved those issues. But the current viewer has a bug in the redirect of the headshot URL.

I myself also have a lot of headshots (with alternatives) on my harddisk but nowhere online. They would be over 200MB
